After Bone Graft
Your surgeon has placed a bone graft in the surgical site. As such, please be advised of the following instructions:
1.  Do not rinse, spit or irrigate the area for three days. Following three days, you may do gentle rinsing with salt water three times per day.
2.  Do not use an irrigation syringe or Waterpik-style toothbrush in the area of the graft for 3 weeks following your surgery as this may dislodge the graft.
3.  Do not apply pressure to the area with your tongue or fingers.The material is malleable and this can disturb the healing.
4.  Take all medications as prescribed.

Please follow a soft diet, such as pastas and yogurt, for 10-14 days postoperatively. Try to avoid chewing in the vicinity of the surgical site for 2 weeks.

Note: You may expect to find small granules in your mouth for the first several days following the procedure. Granules may also work themselves to the gum surface later in the healing process. Please call Huronia Oral Surgery Group at 705-302-0357 if the area becomes tender.
