Meet Dr. MacNicol

Dr. Bruce M. MacNicol is a certified specialist in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery with particular interest in orthognathic and implant surgery. He has been providing oral surgical care to Barrie and surrounding communities since 1989.
Dr. MacNicol completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Calgary. He earned his D.D.S. degree from the University of Western Ontario and continued in London for an additional year completing a Dental Internship at University Hospital. Dr. MacNicol received his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery training in Detroit, Michigan completing the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency program at Detroit-Macomb Hospitals. This provided Dr. MacNicol with extensive training in orthognathic, TMJ, dental alveolar, pediatric, anesthesia, craniofacial, cleft palate, dental implant and maxillofacial trauma surgery. Dr. MacNicol also earned a Masters of Science degree in Biology at the University of Detroit, researching the use of tissue adhesives in intraoral grafts. Dr. MacNicol was awarded his fellowship in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery from the Royal College of Dentists of Canada in 1989.
Dr. MacNicol is a member of numerous professional organizations local, national and international. He is past president of the Muskoka-Simcoe Dental Society. He provides full scope surgical services to his patients. These include dental implants, bone and soft tissue grafting, wisdom tooth surgery, dental extractions, diagnosis and treatment of oral pathology, orthognathic and maxillofacial trauma surgery. He also provides diagnosis and treatment of TMJ disorders and facial pain. Dr. MacNicol is committed to providing his patients with the most current, up-to-date surgical treatment. Continuing education is a priority for Dr. MacNicol. He regularly attends conferences in anesthesia, orthognathic and dental implant surgery.
Dr. MacNicol lectures extensively to members of the dental and medical communities on all aspects of oral maxillofacial surgery. Dr. MacNicol maintains staff appointments at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie, Orillia Soldiers Memorial Hospital and Huronia District Hospital in Midland.
Dr. MacNicol has been married to Cynthia since 1988. They have two children. He enjoys the outdoors, staying physically fit and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. His hobbies include hockey, skiing, hiking, cycling, golf and boating. He is also team oral maxillofacial surgeon for the Barrie Colts.
